A non-governmental organisation “Say Yes to My Needs” has called for support of good spirited individuals, organisations and governments for the promotion of social welfare scheme aimed at empowering the unemployed and the elderly in the country.
According to the Director Francis Pembe, the social welfare scheme will be launched tomorrow at the Eagles Square in Abuja.
Pembe said over 25 thousand members of the NGO as well as other expected guests would grace the occasion.
Pembe noted that creating jobs that would accommodate the teeming unemployed youths in Nigeria would be a mirage adding that an organization like theirs if supported would solve the needs of the people.
“There is no number of jobs that can be created by government that will resolve the unemployment rate in the country. Even if you employ the youths what about the social welfare for the aged and the elderly.
“If government can support them, the dividends of democracy will reach our people. We are out to stop touting and prostitution by this empowerment,” he said.
According to Pembe, 17 thousand beneficiaries have already been empowered by the organisation while 13000 members permanently depend on it.
He stated that while the charitable organisation depend on spirited individuals in the country for support, he noted that the members of the NGO contribute a mere token for the sustenance of the organisation.
The director maintained that his NGO gives grants to members who return them with interest stating that ‘Say yes to my needs” as an NGO has offices in the 774 local governments and had the ability to deliver from one town or village to another.
The group stated that it has floated another programme called Mobilisation for Empowerment Development Defence Agenda while it has partnered with Access bank, GT bank and Global Communications.
He commended Senator Philip Aduda for his support and the proprietor of Peace Mass Transit for donating the sum of 18million, one hundred and fifty thousand naira to the organisation.
