From Ahmad Ibrahim, Lokoja

A body known as Patriots for Growth and Development Initiative , PGDI has tasked law enforcement agencies in the country to rise up to the challenge, by ensuring that the ongoing ENDSARS protests do not escalate, thereby throwing the country into serious crisis.
The Executive Director of the body, Mr. Nasim Salami who gave the charge while addressing the media in Lokoja, said they are highly concerned with the violent and dangerous dimensions the protests have taken, across Nigeria.
He said if the current trends are not quickly nipped in the bud, it may throw the country into a state of anarchy, even as he alleged that some fifth columnists might be responsible for the attacks, disruptions and other killings in some parts of the country.
While adding that the ugly developments might have been a careful and we’ll planned handiwork of the enemies of Nigeria to subvert the relative peace and unity in the land, the Executive Director further called on all leaders and Patriots to put an end to the agitations.
He maintained that the initial demands by the protesters are being genuinely addressed by the Federal Government, and wondered why the protests are escalating on daily basis, gradually leading to breakdown of law and order, with some undesirable elements masquerading as protesters unleashing mayhem.
He stressed that those behind the present crisis in Nigeria intend to cause security breach of national magnitude that would lead to total collapse of the system, as well as lead to destruction of lives and livelihoods of Nigerians.
While commending President Muhammadu Buhari for listening to, and accepting to implement all the demands of the protesters, Mr. Salami equally enjoined governments at all levels to use every legal and constitutional means to protect lives and properties of the citizenry.
