NGO tasks women on security consciousness

A non governmental organization, Prime Unique Women Initiative (PUWI) has reeled out measures to inculcate the habit of security consciousness into women in the home front and their entire vicinity.
In particular, the NGO identified women empowerment as a strategic measure to tackling insecurity in the society.
Also, the NGO said it’s set out to intellectually equip women to protect themselves financially, economically, physically and in all ramifications to enable them perform more.
Making this point, Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Dr. (Mrs) Folake Yobah, noted that mothers are very important to the security structure of any society, as they are the first contact children have.
Dr. Yobah, who blamed the high Rate of insecurity in the society to poverty and poor parenting, said it calls for more enabling policies that will ensure that women are educated and adequately empowered to ensure upbringing of children with high morals.
According to her, “The most vulnerable members of the society are the women, even as they are very strategic to survival of the society, as they are the first contact for children.
“We advocate for poverty alleviation, creation of a sustainable platform for women development and security through capacity building, and empowerment across the globe using a multi-layered strategy of advocacy, community engagement, capacity building and private-public sector partnerships.”
She added that as a women based NGO, it’s committed to highlighting critical issues such as security, economic and education affecting women, thereby helping to improve their welfare.
Furthermore, she stressed that it was necessary for the government to adopt measures at creating sustainable platforms for women entrepreneurial to thrive in the society.
She therefore called on stakeholders especially policy makers to support humanitarian service oriented organizations advocating social justice especially for women and children in the society.
