In a bid to protect the environment from continuous pollution and degradation in Nigeria, The Global Power Shift (GPS) Nigeria, fixed August 27- 28, 2014, for a 2-day Clean Energy Summit in Uyo, the Akwa Ibom State capital.
The summit, according to a statement obtained from the GPS website, is in response to the Nigerian government’s over-reliance on dirty energy and to appeal for alterative clean and sustainable energy sources.
In addition, the summit will also focus on empowering the participants with tools to hold the oil companies and federal government accountable for any act of pollution, land grab and degradation; and connect them with other local activists to form an environmental monitoring vanguard to safeguard every other part of the country where environmental pollution is detected.
