A Non Governmental Organization(NGO) known as The Nigerian Prize for Leadership (NPL) has commenced  a one month 2nd edition of  Ambassadors Leadership Programme training of 50 youths in 27 states of the federation, including Federal Capital Territory, with the aim to  developing young Nigerians for quality leadership.

Declaring the programme open, Prof. Anya Anya, Chairman of the NPL’s governing board, said NPL’s objective was to institute and project a true Nigerian leadership prize that would inspire young Nigerians to lead in future leadership services of the country.

He said the programme was targeting Nigerians of all ages, who have demonstrated character, credibility, competence, creativity, exemplary sacrifice with sustainable success.

According to Anya, who was represented by Prof. Jerry Gana, a former Information Minister, the critical role the youth plays in nation building underscores the essence for initiating the “ Ambassadors Leadership Programme”, to raise and groom a new generation of exceptional leaders from the six geopolitical zones of the country.

“The programme is designed to be impactful  and imparting, leading to a complete transformation of participants over a period of time, “ Anya explained.

In his contribution Prof. Vincent Anigbogu, Chairman Programme Development Committee NPL, said nation building was a project which every generation must be properly prepared to undertake, and in achieving this, there was need to involve younger Nigerians.

According to Anigbogu, a new Nigeria project as proscribed by the nation’s national anthems, both old and new, is aimed to build one nation bound in freedom, peace and unity where truth and justice shall reign, this could be achievable with training of Nigerian youths.

Earlier in his address of welcome, Amb. Praise Edeh, Programme Officer NPL, congratulated the participants for their success, while urging them to take their training seriously as they stood at greater advantage than their peers in nation’s quest for quality leadership services.

Meanwhile Miss Chiamaka Jonathan, one of the participants, applauded NPL for such initiative she described to be a rigorous course capable to equip the participants to stand differently among other youths in Nigeria’s society.

The theme of the event is “Raising a Credible Successor Generation”.
