NIALS promises to build capacity of Armed Forces

In view of the raging spate of insurgency in the North Eastern Parts of the country, the Nigerian Institute of Advanced Legal Studies (NIALS) said it would continue to build the capacity of the Nigerian Armed Forces for optimum performance.

Speaking recently in Abuja at a workshop, the institute’s Director General, Prof. Epiphany Azinge (SAN) assured that the Institute is always prepared to build the capacity of the Navy and the Armed forces.

Lamenting on the numerous security challenges confronting the country, the NIALS’ boss promised the institute’s commitment to work with the military in bringing the challenges to an end.

He said, “This is a very critical moment in our history, as there are some security challenges all over the place; whether at the areas where we have a state of emergency, places where we have challenges of oil bunkering and some piracy activities on our high seas.”

In a keynote address, the Chief of Naval Staff, Vice Admiral Usman Jibrin said the training came at a time when the country is faced with enormous security challenges especially in the Sahel and the Gulf of Guinea.

The Chief of Naval Staff, who was represented by Commodore E.O. Enemor said, “The dilemma of the military personnel in the 21st century is the expectation that the military should treat its foes with humanity.” He advised military officers and men to acquire superior skills in order to fulfill demanding roles.

He charged political leaders to provide good governance for their people as a way of curtailing security challenges.
