The Chief Magistrate of the Chief Magistrate Court I in Suleja Local Government of Niger State, Hassan Mohammed, has granted bail to the ward chief of Kuchikon Ijah, Tafa Local Government Area of Niger State, Mr. Danlami Samuel and seventeen accused persons with the sum of N 500,000 each.
The Chief Magistrate, who stated this during the ruling of application bail of the accused persons at the court on Thursday in Suleja, said the accused persons should produce Surety each and must be resident in Suleja.
He also ordered that the sureties of the accused persons must be willing to submit their passport to the registrar of the Court.
However, the case was adjourned to the 16th of July, 2020.
In an interview, the counsel to the nominal complaints, Barr. Darlington Ozurumba, said it is a constitutional right of the accused persons to be granted bail.
It would be recalled that the ward chief and seventeen persons were accused of unlawful destruction of some farmers’ crops at Kuchikon Ijah Community.
