Niger DPR office gutted with fire

The Niger state office of the Department of Petroleum Resources (DPR) was on Monday gutted with fire which begun from the inverter and internet room of the office at around 15:50 hours in Minna the state capital.
The State Operations Controller, Engr Abdullahi Isah Jankara who disclosed this yesterday at a press briefing in Minna, said that the prompt and quick intervention of the state fire service saved the degree of magnitude of the impact of the fire.
He attributed the incident to a partial electric contact from the room that affected other three offices making a total of four offices, its equipments, materials, furniture and the roof of the department.
Jankara explained that apart from the inverter/internet office, the other offices affected includes that of Head of Gas, Head of Down Stream and that of Account closed to where the fire started.
He further said that none of the office sensible documents or materials were affected as many of those materials were in a safe as they were domiciled in his office which was not affected, he noted that their fire extinguisher was used before the fire fighters intervention.
The Controller hinted that the Head and Zonal offices of the department has been informed about the incidence while he debunked the alleged sabotage involvement added that CCTV cameras are installed within and outside the office location.
He commended the pro-activeness of the state fire service for its prompt intervention noted that the office has concluded plans to relocate all the facilities that could lead to fore outbreak outside of office complex to forestall future reoccurrence
