Niger Govt accused over non commitment to Baro Port reality

The Niger state government under the leadership of Governor Abubakar Sani Bello has been accused of not showing a required commitment for the actualization of the abandoned Baro Port project by the federal government.
An elderly concerned Nigerlite and Ndejin Bosso, Alhaji Danlami Umar made the disclosure yesterday at a press briefing held in Minna, saying that the commitment exhibited by the state governor will determine the seriousness of President Muhammadu Buhari on the project.
He appealed to Governor Bello to as a matter of urgency suspend all the multiple small projects to focus on the only awaiting Agaie to Baro road despite its federal road because of the importance and associated benefits Nigerians stand to gain from the singular project.
According to him, “with Baro Port we are connected to the world and multiple industries would be establish here and unemployment will be certainly reduced”, he said.
“But unfortunately Niger state government is careless about the project, government must show interest by creating accessible road especially from Agaie to Baro, to relocate some government activities to Baro like some MDAs like Ministry of Transport and Finance, create market and tourism sites attractions” he stated.
He stressed that Kaduna state government has created dry port already because of leadership creativity warned not to allowed other states took over the affairs of the Port, thereby challenged investors to come and invest in Baro before its readiness for fully operations.
Ndejin Bosso further appealed to former Heads of State, General Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida and General Abdulsalam Alhaji Abubakar as well as Colonel Sani Bello to team up for the actualization of Baro Port while he applauded them for their various achievement thus far in Nigeria.
Alhaji Umar who commenced the federal government for the project challenged President Muhammadu Buhari to do more considering the numerous benefits like employment creation, economic and social development attached to the Baro Port that has already swallowed almost N40 billion hence the need for its realization.
He called on Nigerians to give their maximum support and committed to hasting the actualization of the project of Baro Port as it would impact positively on many states of the federation and a source of revenue for both states and federal government of Nigeria.
