Niger State Information Technology and Digital Economy Agency (NSITDEA) has connected over 153 Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) to high-speed fibre optic internet services, marking a major milestone in the State’s digital transformation drive.

According to him, the Director-General of the Agency, Suleiman Isah, disclosed this as part of ongoing efforts to modernise governance and improve public service delivery through technology.
He stated that the initiative has established a unified digital backbone across government institutions, enabling faster communication, seamless data exchange, and improved operational efficiency within the public sector.
He explained that prior to the intervention, many MDAs operated on fragmented and unreliable internet systems, which slowed down administrative processes and limited coordination.
The deployment of fibre optic infrastructure, he noted, has now positioned the State for real-time governance and integrated service delivery.
The DG further revealed that the connectivity project is supported by forward-looking policies of the State Government, including the approval of zero Right-of-Way charges for fibre optic deployment. This, he said, has encouraged private sector participation and accelerated broadband expansion across the State.
Industry observers say the development is already yielding results, with noticeable improvements in data management, inter-agency collaboration, and cost efficiency, as MDAs now operate on shared digital infrastructure.
Beyond connectivity, Isah highlighted the Agency’s broader mandate, which includes the digitalisation of government services, promotion of ICT skills, and strengthening of the State’s digital economy ecosystem.
He reiterated the commitment of NSITDEA to deepen digital inclusion, expand infrastructure to underserved areas, and sustain ongoing reforms aimed at making Niger State a leading hub for technology-driven governance in Nigeria.
The governor told the Vice President that the state government had already donated N60 million to the families of the eleven slain officers to support them.
He also announced that the communities recently displaced by bandits have been resettled by the state government, adding that adequate security measures were being put in place to prevent the reoccuraence of such ugly situation.
