Niger  State Government has lamented that the state is usually left with mega resources after payment of workers salary and pensioners, hence the need to improve Internal Generated Revenue.

Commissioner of  Finance, Budget and Planning, Alhaji Abubakar Zakari disclosed this in a press briefing on the breakdown of the 2022 budget estimate presented to the house by Governor Abubakar Sani Bello.

Zakari who was optimistic however noted that the state civil servants will smile in 2022 as over N1.33 billion representing 1.77% has been earmarked for their leave grant especially for the outstanding MDAs in the state.

He explained that under the economic sector, the State is also expected to use the sum 6.46Billion Naira on debt servicing in the the  proposed budget.

The Commissioner revealed that the current debt profile of the State for both local and foreign creditors stood at 87 billion naira, adding that some of the debt were inherited by the present administration.
