Niger govt gives N27m flood victims in Kontagora community

The Niger State Government has given N27 million cash to Rafin Gora community in Kontagora local government as relief assistance to those who lost ten children to the flood during the last raining season including food items and building materials.
No fewer than seventy (70) persons were affected which includes the families of the ten children who were washed away by the flood, received relief intervention at the emir palace in Kontagora yesterday.
The Niger State Governor, Alhaji Abubakar Sani Bello who was represented by a critical All Progressive Congress APC stakeholder, Alhaji Mamman Ahmadu reiterated the commitment in providing humanitarian services and enabling environment for economic development.
He explained that the State government took its time in order to provide a lasting solution to their plight of flooding which has became a yearly occurrence.
According to him, the state has also seek the intervention of world bank to solve the problem of gully erosion which transverse the village hence the World Bank has conducted area survey and has started moving in their equipment to commence work.
The state has also nagotiated with Kontagora Emirate to provide resettlement site for the community which has been concluded of which the community were already aware., and the demarcation and plotting will begin soon.
The DG NSEMA, Mall. Ahmed Ibrahim Inga, in his remarks, urged the beneficiaries to make proper use of what was given to them and support govts policies and programs to move the state to the next level and be among the viable States of the federation.
The representative of the Emir of Kontagora, Magayakin kgora, thanks the gvnor for his laudable programs and for his continues success in all his undertakings.
The community also expressed their sincere appreciation to the gvnor most especially for the resettlement program. It might be recalled that 22 out of the 25LGAs of Niger State was affected by 2018 flood which necessitate the president to include her in States that were declared Flood State of Emergency.
The community was given 8m cash with 600bags of cement, 200 bags of Rice, 100bags of maize, 50 gericans each of Red oil and ground but oil,50bags of Salt, 50 cartoons each of bathing and washing soaps and Maggie cubes.50bags of Semolina and Other building materials.
