Niger govt. seeks residents support for urban devt, policy

The Coordinator, Niger State Urban Support Programme, Prof. Zubairu Mustapha has told the residents of the state and local councils to be involved actively by taking the ownership of formulation and implementation of the state Urban Policy Programme so as to address challenges in their local government areas.
He gave the charge during a Town Hall meeting held in Kontagora consisting eight local government areas to sensitise communities on the formulation of the state new urban policy.
Prof. Mustapha explained that the state Gov. Abubakar Bello in May 2017 attended the second International Conference on National Urban Policy in Paris based on the invitation of UN-Habitat.
He added that the presentation of the governor attracted a grant of $900,000 dollar from South Korean Government to prepare Integrated Development Plan for Minna and Suleja and develop Smart City in Suleja.
In his remark, the Niger State Governor, Alhaji Abubakar Bello Bello, who was represented by the Permanent Secretary, Economic Affairs, Dr Baba Wachiko, appealed to communities to achieve consensus on the challenges of their councils and articulate the aspirations of the people on a sustainable and development path.
