Niger NYSC camp shut down due to infrastructural decay

Date:

From Yakubu Mustapha, Minna

The Niger State office of the National Youths Service Corps (NYSC) has attributed the redeployment of some 500 corps members recently posted to the state to Kaduna state over alleged “infrastructural decay” at the Niger State Permanent Orientation Camp.
The scheme’s (NYSC) site which is situated in the outskirt of Paiko town in Paikoro Local Government Council’ in the state has experienced decayed infrastructural amenities in the last few years.
It was further learnt on Sunday in Minna the state capital that the decision of the authorities of the Scheme in Niger State in conjunction with the NYSC National Secretariat at Abuja to redeploy the affected 500 youth corps members to Kaduna state may not have been unconnected with the plan to avert unexpected security breach and attacks by hoodlums at the Paikoro NYSC’s Permanent Orientation Camp in Niger state during the service year.
This could be following inadequate security and non-completion of the perimeter fencing of the orientation camp since the regime of the immediate past administration in the state.
It was further revealed that the redeployment of the 500 graduates from various tertiary institutions in the country to Kaduna state may also not have been unconnected with the lackadaisical attitude of the incumbent state governor, Alhaji Abubakar Sani Bello to provide adequate infrastructural facilities at the orientation camp.
