From Yakubu Mustapha Minna

The Niger state People’s Democratic Party (PDP) have challenged governor Mohammed Umar Bago to give the account of the state share from N570 billion naira and N1.3 trillion received from the federal government to the 36 states of the federation.
This was contained in a statement issued and made available in Minna by the State Vice Chairman and Zonal Chairman Niger North Zone ‘C of the PDP, Yahaya Abdullahi Ability, raising alarm for accountability and transparency in governance in the state
He urged the Niger State governor to also make public the amounts of money given to the state from about N1.3 trillion naira shared for the 36 states recently where the Nasarawa state governor Abdullahi Sule allegedly claimed that his state alone got about N57 billion while on a television programme.
He maintained that governor Bago to give public account of how much Niger state received and where is the funds injected into as the state is wallowing in deep poverty, unemployment, decayed infrastructure, Insecurity, unconcerned about the welfare and wellbeing of the citizens.
The PDP Zonal Chairman emphasized that the Niger state, with its rich resources and strategic position, received a significant portion of this federal allocation and urged for public scrutiny on how the state resources are being managed by the present administration.
According to him, “Where is Niger State’s share of the 1.3 trillion Naira? The people are not asking for a detailed financial report buried in bureaucratic jargon; they are asking for tangible evidence of development and improvement in their lives.”
He added that lhe lack of visible progress has fueled growing dissatisfaction and disillusionment with the current administration in Niger state despite huge amount of money received from the federation account consistently.
He therefore advised that as “we approach the 2027 elections the people of Niger State must make their voices heard, noting that the ruling APC government has had ample time and resources to transform the state, yet the people have little to show for it.
However, as at the time of filing in this report, efforts to get Niger state government and state APC response proved abortive.
