From Yakubu Mustapha Minna
Pensioners in Niger state have demanded for the balance payment of their gratuities of seventy percent for those who were paid thirty percent.
The senior citizens numbering about twenty have allegedly died in the state due to non-payment of pensions and gratuity by the state government.
Some of the pensioners who spoke to journalists in Minna said their colleagues died due to pressure from non-payment of their pensions and gratuities, adding that they are unable to take care of themselves and their families.
Revealing their predicament, the pensioners said despite seventeen different exercises conducted by the state government in last seven years, the discovery of ghost pensioners and alleged monies recovered, the government still owes over ten thousand pensioners their gratuities.
