Following the pronouncement of president Bola Ahmed Tinubu that fuel subsidy has gone during his inaugural speech, long queues of vehicles has resurfaced in Minna the Niger state capital.
This has undoubtedly caused untold hardship to motorists and passengers who were taken by surprise of the new development.
Our correspondent observed the closure of many filing stations while many others selling above the regulated price in Minna due to the removal of petrol subsidy as announced by the President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
According to findings, a litre of petrol that is sold at one hundred eighty five and two hundred now sold at between four hundred and five hundred naira per litre at the few filling stations that have opened for business while others hoarding the product refused to open for business.
The situation has led to many passengers now resort to trekking some short distance to save cost before getting to their destinations.
Some passengers who spoke to our Reporter however appealed to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, governor Umar Mohammed Bago to as a matter of urgency deal decisively with those sabotaging the good intention of government especially the petrolatum marketers to serve as detergent to others.
Motorists lamented that despite the petrolatum marketers are having old product subsidized are selling above official pump price hence they should be sealed, arrested and prosecuted for sabotaging the economy of the country.
Meanwhile, the Federal Government through the Nigeria National Upstream and Downstream Petrolatum Regulatory Commission has appealed to Nigerians not to resort to panic buying as there is no cause for alarm and that it is in full control of the situation.
