Niger Tornadoes set to join NPL

The Technical Adviser of Niger Tornadoes FC of Minna, Godwin Koko Uwua has said that his side 3-1 triumph over Nigerian Prisons has kept them among top contenders to gain promotion to the Nigerian Premier League.

Uwua said this after the week 13 of the Nigeria National League played over in the mid week at the late Bako Kontagora Memorial Stadium, Minna, Wednesday.

He said that Tornadoes side was now a formidable side and will fight on with all their might to ensure that they return to the elite league.

‘‘Our team has now picked up, we are in good shape, focused and well directed.

‘‘ We will not allow anything what so ever to distract our game plans, our major aim is to win all matches and return to the premier league’’, he said

According to him of recent his side has been playing a good attacking football, adding he want his team to be dreaded in the NNL.

He added that his game plan against Prisons FC worked out, and where there were errors, corrections are to be proffered immediately.

Tornadoes from the blast of the whistle came out smoking that the Prisons team found them difficult to contain, that Tornadoes midfielder, Yahaya Yusuf scored the opener in the 18th Minute vie goal mouth scramble.

During the second half, the downpour did not deter the attacking prowess of Tornadoes as solo effort of the team’s talisman Kayode Agboola was aptly halted illegally that the centre referee from Kwara State Ajide Tomiwa wasted no time to award spot kick to the host.

Kayode Agboola step up and luckily slot in the resultant kick as the Prisons goalkeeper, Josephat Ejeh parried the ball into his own net due to the force the striker played the penalty with.

The Prisons’ team however showed that they were equally good as Ocheke Paul shrugged Tornadoes defenders and shot pass host goalkeeper and captain, Aliko Mustapha in the 86th minute.

There jubilation was short lived as Agboola recorded his brace in the game in the 89th minute and has now taken his tally to eight goals and is now the club’s top scorer in the NNL campaign so far.
