The management of Liberty Newspaper on Saturday conferred media merit award of “Icon of a Nation Building” on the Wakilin of Kambari in Suleja Local Government Area of Niger State, Alhaji Haruna Usman Jagaba.
Presenting the award to the recipient on behalf of Editor-in-Chief, Mr Philip Isuwa said the award was bestowed on the awardee based on his outstanding contributions in the society.
He added that award was conferred on the recipient based on merit, printing out that the award was not for sale.
Isuwa, however, charged the awardee to continue to play an important roles in the society for the benefit of humanity, as he said the management of Liberty Newspaper would not hesitate to honour those who had contributed immensely on the lives of the people.
In an interview at the occasion, the awardee of the day who is the Wakilin of Kambari in Suleja, Alhaji Haruna Usman Jagaba, thanked the authority of Liberty Newspaper for the honour done to him.
He said he would continue to exhibit good character in the society for the upcoming generation to emulate, saying that he would continue to do good for the people.
He used the occasion to advise community leaders to administer their subjects with the fear of God, while urging them to protect the lives and property of their people.
Jagaba, who retired as the staff of the Federal Capital Development Authority (FCDA) urged the entire staff of FCT Administration to always obey the laid down rules and regulations guiding the civil service, and warned them against corruption.
This, according to Jagaba, the elected politicians should be accountable to the electorates and govern the masses with the fear of God.
Also speaking, the Village Head of Maje in Suleja, Alhaji Isyaku Abdullahi who represented the District Head of Maje, said the award conferred on the Wakilin of Kambari was a step in the right direction.
On their responses, the Chairman of Kambari Development Association Suleja Emirate (KaDASE), Ango Mohammed Wando and the women leader of KaDASE, Mrs Suleiman Ishaya Murna, described the Wakilin of Kambari as a man of Patient, straightforward and transparent.
The award ceremony was attended by important dignitaries as well as the children and the wives of the Wakilin of Kambarin in Daguru –Maje community.
