Niger youths plan to halt Zungeru Dam commissioning

Coalition of Shiroro Associations of Niger state have threatened to institute legal action against the Federal Government restraining it from commissioning Zungeru Hydroelectric Power Dam if their demands were not met.

Spokesperson of the group, Comrade Salis Sabo made the declaration while addressing journalists in Kuta, headquarters of Shiroro local government council.

Comrade Sabo added that they will also occupy the dam site in a peaceful protest against the commissioning as clamoured by those affected.

According to him, they will also petition the World Bank on inability of Federal Government to fulfil its side of the agreement.
