In what appears as endorsement of the landmark achievements of the minister of the Federal Capital Territory and immediate past Governor of Rivers State, Chief Nyesome Wike, an American based politician and businessman Alhaji Saidu Ugonoh has called on Nigerian to emulate the Ijaw Peoples Congress in identifying public office holders who have discharged there duties creditably for appreciation.
Alhaji Saidu who had served as Special Assistant on diaspora affairs to former speaker Aminu Waziri Tambuwal expressed concerns that people in public offices are more vilified than appreciated even in areas they have demonstrated uncommon ability to deliver good governance .
Saidu, who is the Santuraki of Ebira land commended the FCT minister for his ingenuity and presence of the mind in the way and manner he has flushed out crime and criminal elements within the Federal Capital Territory , his detailed plans to further open up the federal capital Territory and Infrastructural developments especially roads constructions .
He pointed out that it takes genuine intentions of a leader to deliver giving the avalanche of jesters and wrong-advisers that usually surrounds leaders and block them from the realities and deny the electorate there rights to dividends of democracy and good governance .
He stressed that having watched the FCT minister personally and very frequently supervise and follow up on Infrastructural contractual projects across the federal capital Territory convinces him that Chief Wike understands the urgency of time and has so remained a major asset to the incumbent administration of Bola Ahmed Tinubu .
Acknowledging the challenges and difficult times that Nigerians are currently passing through and the need for government to ensure that only competent appointees mane the critical sectors , Alhaji Ugonoh urged the President to carryout a critical assessment of his administration and make cabinet picks amongst the very best regardless of there political affiliations and ethnic backgrounds .
He argued that the most considered sentiment and criteria as the Presidency have indicated interest in a cabinet reshuffle should be competence and not necessarily for political exigence .
Commenting on the 64th Nigerian independence celebration , Ugonoh said , the country has made significant improvement in sustaining democracy for the first time transiting 24 years and counting, adding that ,this development shows that the country has of age in unity .
He maintained that Nigeria has potentials to take the world by storm ,but added that Nigeria can only achieve such greatness when people with leadership skills and foresights are in the saddle with clear intentions to work to elevate the well fair and well-being of Nigerians.
