As Nigeria celebrates its 64th Independence Anniversary, the National Orientation Agency (NOA) has called on citizens to remain hopeful and committed to the dreams of the nation’s founding fathers.
Director-General of NOA, Mallam Lanre Issa-Onilu, in a statement signed by deputy Director of Press Paul Odenyi on Monday praised Nigerians for their resilience in the face of challenges, noting that the tough economic policies currently in place are aimed at securing the brighter future envisioned by the country’s early leaders.
The Director-General emphasized that the journey of nation-building is ongoing and requires the collective efforts of all citizens, regardless of their social, economic, or political backgrounds.
“At 64, Nigeria is still a work in progress. Everybody should be part of it. The dream of our founding fathers is for us to be free and free indeed,” Issa-Onilu stated, underscoring the need for national unity and collaboration across tribal, religious, and cultural lines.
Reflecting on the struggles and achievements of Nigeria’s past, Issa-Onilu urged the public to draw inspiration from the country’s national heroes and stay focused on creating a nation that can be a source of pride for all.
He expressed confidence that better days lie ahead, calling for unity and a shared sense of purpose to navigate the country’s current challenges.
In line with the anniversary’s theme, “Reflecting on the Past, Inspiring the Future,” Issa-Onilu encouraged Nigerians to celebrate with a renewed sense of determination, adding that prayers for the country’s peace and prosperity would help steer Nigeria towards a new era of progress and economic liberty.
The NOA’s message comes as a reminder that, despite its struggles, Nigeria remains on a path of growth, and with the continued contributions of all citizens, a brighter future can be achieved.
