The Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) announced a significant increase in the cost of Nigerian passports for applications made within the country.
The new fees, which take effect on September 1, 2025, are part of an effort to “uphold the quality and integrity of the Nigerian Passport.”
The price for a 32-page passport with 5-year validity has been raised to ₦100,000, a notable increase from the previous cost. Similarly, the 64-page passport with 10-year validity will now cost ₦200,000.
This new pricing structure only affects applications submitted within Nigeria. Passport fees for Nigerians in the diaspora remain unchanged at $150 for the 5-year, 32-page option and $230 for the 10-year, 64-page option.
In a statement, the Service Public Relations Officer, ACI AS Akinlabi, emphasized the NIS’s commitment to “balancing quality service delivery with the need to ensure Passport services are accessible to all Nigerians.”
