Speaker of the House of Representatives, Aminu Waziri Tambuwal has stresss the need for Nigeria to source for a clean, affordable and efficient energy for the development of the nation’s economy
Tambuwal made the call yesterday while unveiling some eco-friendly transport and power generating products in Abuja.
The products which are a creation of BrightVue, a US based manufacturing firm, according to the Speaker are the ideal solutions to the current inadequacies been suffered by Nigerians in areas of mobility and power generation.
“what I’ve learnt from the company CEO is that it’s a clean energy, environment friendly and very affordable. And from the explanations he has offered, I believe we should have many more of these companies coming to Nigeria to address our search for energy. This will go a long way in supporting the efforts of the government in providing sustainably electricity to Nigerians”.
Earlier, in his remaks, Chairman, House Committee on Narcotics, Money Laundering and Anti Corruption, Rep Jagaba Adams Jagaba, (PDP, Kaduna) told the gathering that the event was to herald a change in the nation’s quest to create a better life for the citizenry.
“This is an event I personally believe can change the course and lives of Nigeria and Nigerians. You are here to see the change that’s coming to Nigeria from across the borders of the United State”, he opined.
President of the company, Dr. Emmanuel Topson told the audience of efforts made by his team to reach out to the Federal Government in an attempt to fully domesticate the technology, he said would be the first of its kind in Africa.
“We have already submitted a proposal to the federal government to deploy 10 recharge/refill stations in every local government Area of the country. Apart from significantly improving rural energy access and improving the environment, this move will also provide at least 8,000 direct jobs in the recharge stations alone, another 200 jobs in the manufacturing plant, and an estimated two million jobs in downstream opportunities”, he said.
The products cut across mobility and power generation. The electric motorcycle and bicycles are powered by rechargeable batteries that can also double as power generators, lasting seven days per single charge for the household. While the motorcycle is noiseless and faster than its counterparts using fuel, the bicycle can also be ridden using either manual pedaling system, or battery powered motion of 45 kilometers per hour, and a total capacity of over 200 kilometer life span per a single charge.
