Professor Jerry Gana, a former Minister of Information and Culture, has emphasized that Nigeria’s progress as the giant of Africa hinged on producing quality leaders who are also God-fearing.
Speaking at the 2025 reunion program of the Kaduna State chapter of the Christian Elders Forum of the Northern States (NOSCEF), Gana stressed the importance of deliberate leadership development.
Gana emphasized that Nigeria deserves leaders with character, integrity, honor, and wisdom. He noted that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) would strive to ensure that only excellent candidates emerge as leaders.
He emphasized that leaders are not born, but rather made, and therefore, it is crucial to identify, train, and develop individuals with leadership qualities.
Gana lamented the serious decline in leadership quality in Nigeria, attributing the country’s stagnation to poor leadership.
He emphasized the role of Godly leadership in nation-building, noting that good leaders would facilitate the flow of clean and legitimate funds into the national economy.
Gana urged churches, elders, and political parties to prioritize raising high-quality leaders who would provide qualitative leadership at all levels of government.
