The Deputy Speaker, House of Representatives, Rep. Benjamin Kalu has said that Nigeria’s energy and creativity is a reflection of Africa’s future.
Kalu said this while receiving a delegation of African young leaders led by Shehu Musa Yar’adua Foundation in his office in Abuja on Wednesday.
He described Nigeria’s big brother’s role in African countries as a demonstration of unity forged in diversity.
“Nigeria’s energy and creativity reflects Africa’s future.
“This meeting across cultures and the understanding forged in diversity makes humanity more united,” he said.
The Deputy Speaker, who commended the Shehu Musa Yar’adua Foundation for making the meeting possible, said that leadership is not about age.
Kalu, who, urged the youths to always embrace collaboration beyond borders, said innovation is key in leadership.
According to him, leadership is not about power but transfer of hope and it requires those who can speak the language of innovation.
Describing the youths as bridge-builders, Kalu admonished them to use the visit as opportunity to participate in more activities about the future of Africa.
He reaffirmed the commitment of the National Assembly to driving reforms that reflect youth inclusiveness, gender- balance and equity.
Earlier, the Director General, Shehu Musa Yar’adua Foundation, Chief Amara Nwankpa, said that the primary aim of the courtesy call was to learn from the National Assembly.
“We are here primarily to provide these young people from across Africa the opportunity to learn from you, to engage and interact with you.”
