Environmental Health Officers Registration Council of Nigeria (EHORECON) has disclosed that Nigerians spend about 1.3trillion naira on treatment of malaria annually as a result failure of government at all levels to address the issue of environmental health.

The Registrar of (EHORECON) in Abuja, Augustine Ebisike, disclosed this while speaking at the 4th Kaduna state annual conference/scientific workshop tagged Dubagari 2014, held in Kaduna yesterday.

The aggrieved registrar indicted government for insincerity in the campaign against malaria, saying governments would have dealt with mosquitoes, the causal organism instead of rolling out malaria programme that has been designed to siphon public fund.

“If there is no mosquito in Nigeria today, do will have malaria? So let us role away mosquito and malaria will die a natural death,” he stressed.

Earlier in an address, the President, Environmental Health Officers’ Association of Nigeria (EHOAN), Kaduna state chapter, Yandeh Ahmad Mairiga, drew the attention of state government on the need for veritable environment that is free from all forms of deleterious factors that poses serious negative health threat on the life its citizenry.
