NIHOTOUR signs MOU with ministry, ITPN on N-power hospitality skill acqouisition

The National Institute for Hospitality and Tourism, NIHOTOUR has signed a Memorandum of Understanding MOU between the Institute, Federal Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development (FMHADMSD), and the Institute for Tourism Professionals of Nigeria (ITPN) on  N-power hospital skill acquisition for youth .

The agency said its set to deliver quality training and impact vocational skills on Nigerian youths in the Federal Government’s N-Power Build program expected to commence soon nationwide aimed at improving operational efficiency and sustainable development of the hospitality industry of the country.

The Director General of NIHOTOUR, Nura Kangiwa, who made the disclosure recently in Abuja, after the signing of the MOU,said NIHOTOUR is desirous of delivering vocational, technical and professional skills for operators in the Nigerian hospitality and tourism sector for improved quality products and service delivery that will boost growth in the industry.

Kangiwa applauded the Federal Government initiative of the N-Power Build program which he said is capable of enhancing the national capacity for operators in the hospitality and tourism value chains to achieve best global standards and practices of improved, efficient and effective operations in hotels, culinary, and travel tourism services.

The N-Power Build is a job creation and empowerment initiative of the Federal Government designed to help young Nigerians acquire and develop life-long skills to become solution providers in their communities as well as players in the domestic and global markets, with hospitality trade been a part of the areas of training needs for the program.

The MOU is to enable the three parties enter into a non-exclusive, non-legally binding collaborative relationship for the implementation of the hospitality aspect of the N-Power Build of the National Social Investment Program (NSIP), with the Federal Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development (FMHADMSD) providing the project plans, resources, and monitoring amongst others to achieve the desired skills development and capacity building objectives.

NIHOTOUR is to oversee general implementation of training requirements for the hospitality trades and ITPN undertakes and implements the training requirements of the hospitality trades.
