NIPC hosts TICAD 7 Pre-conference seminar

More than 157 Japanese companies are expected to engage investors and government officials from Africa at the 7th Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD 7) scheduled to take place next month in Yokohama, Japan.
The Executive Vice President of Japan External Trade Organisation (JETRO), Dr Katsumi Hirano made this known during his presentation titled “Industrial Diversification in Resources Rich Countries (TICAD 7 Provision)” at Nigerian Investment Promotion Commission’s (NIPC) headquarters, Abuja on Monday, 01 July 2019.
Speaking on some of the objectives of TICAD 7, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan, H.E. Mr. Yutaka Kikuta stated that bilateral relations between Japan and Nigeria has improved, “in 2009 the number of Japanese companies in Nigeria was only 10 but it has grown to 42 today”.
In her remarks, the Executive Secretary, NIPC Ms Yewande Sadiku stated that Japan is one of twenty countries NIPC identified as being of strategic importance to Nigeria for investment promotion.
TICAD 7 will be held in Yokohama Prefecture, Japan on 28 – 30 August 2019. NIPC provided support to the Embassy of Japan and JETRO to facilitate the pre-conference seminar in Abuja. 23 public and private sector agencies were invited to the pre-conference. On Tuesday, 02 July 2019, Dr. Hirano also spoke at a similar event in Lagos.
