Date:

The National Institute of Sports (NIS) yesterday matriculated no fewer than 100 students for the 2014/2015 academic season.

While 86 students matriculated in the Coaching and Training Department, 14 were in the Management Department.

Sunny Ikhioya, the Director of the institute in an address to the matriculants stressed the need for the students to be loyal, diligent and disciplined.

“Matriculation ceremony is significant because it is the platform through which the new students are officially initiated into the institution.

“Consequently, all registered students are formally inducted into the institute through the oath, which you have just solemnly and publicly pledged to uphold.

He added that the institute was endowed with versatile, knowledgeable and dedicated staff that would be ready to give their best in ensuring that the aspiration of the students became a reality.

“You should be ready to tap from this reservoir of knowledge so as to be better equipped to face the challenges of your profession.

“I urge our students to channel their energies toward excellence, while maintaining a balance between academic and social life.
