Organised labour comprising the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and Trade Union Congress (TUC) has declared a nationwide indefinite strike following a breakdown in negotiation over a new minimum wage.

Addressing journalists on Friday, at an emergency press briefing, the leadership of both the NLC and TUC said the strike will commence from Monday, June 3rd over the failure of the federal government to conclude negotiations on a new national minimum wage and reverse the hike in the electricity tariff.

They pleaded with Nigerians to bear with them, saying “Apologies for inconveniences but commitment to pursue the cause to its conclusion.”
