- As Imo emerges winner, 2014 Quiz Competition

The Group Managing Director of Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), Engr. Andrew Yakubu yesterday disclosed that he has directed for an upward review of the Corporation’s students scholarship for more quality output.
Engr. Yakubu, who spoke at the 2014 Zonal Finals of the NNPC National Quiz Competition for Secondary Schools, held at the NNPC Towers, Abuja said, the quiz competition was organised to prepare the students in Sciences to contribute their quotas to national development.
The GMD, who announced an automatic scholarship for the students who participated at the competition, said the gesture was part of the Corporate Social Responsibility of the NNPC started 13 years ago.
He expressed satisfaction with the overall brilliant performance by the students saying, that they had given the confidence that there is hope for Nigeria.
Earlier, the Group General Manager, Group Public Affairs Division, NNPC, Mr. Ohi Alegbe said, “over the years, we in the NNPC have given this national quiz competition the attention it deserves.
At the end of the quiz competition which covered English Language, Mathematics, Biology, Chemistry and Physics, Imo state came 1st with 155 points, Ogun state came 2nd, with 145 points and Akwa-Ibom came 3rd, with 144 points respectively.
