From Mustapha Adamu, Kano
Chairman, Kano State chapter of New Nigeria People’s Party, NNPP, Hashimu Sulaiman Dungurawa has said that the passive stand of President Bola Tinubu in the ongoing emirate crisis in the state could work against him in the 2027 election.
Dungurawa, who stated this while addressing newsmen at his office in Kano on Sunday also said that Tinubu’s indifference in the crisis is responsible for emir Aminu Bayero’s refusal to vacate the mini palace despite being deposed by the state law.
The party Chairman said previously, people of the state didn’t vote for Mr Tinubu and his passive stand on the emirate tussle is making him lose more ground in the state.
According to him, “Because of the inclination they (Bayero) are having with the Yoruba. As you know, his grand mother came from Yoruba land. They want to bring …agenda here. The rest have agreed to depart their houses but because of his relationship with Tinubu. He was saying as his brother is the head of state, he can not move out. That is why. All these things they are doing, we are just looking and watching them.
“We are appealing to Tinubu, may be now, he is supporting his brother being a partially Yoruba man but when election comes, they are few in number here, they cannot make any difference here for him. So if I were him, I will develop sense of maturity being the head of state to carry everybody along so that, i will have easy crossing and stay.
“But what he is doing, he is adding salt to the wound because Kano people previously are not with him and didn’t vote for him. And now, he is bring more unpopularity for himself,” Dungurawa said.
On the state of the nation, the party Chairman said as opposition party, they were not happy with the way things are gradually getting out of hand as Nigerians are living a difficult life.
He advised the President to invite technocrats or experts to join his team to fix the country.
Dungurawa maintained that the party will still field the Leader of the Party, Dr Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso for the Presidential Candidature in 2027, assuring that Kwankwaso would be the next President of Nigeria.
He said the former governor, Abdullahi Umar Ganduje won the 2019 election in the state through the judges not people’s mandate while describing his 8 years as government ran by himself and family members.
Dungurawa however scored the Governor Abba Yusuf’s government high, saying it has recorded tremendous achievements in the areas of education, health and agriculture among others.
