The New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) has expressed confidence in winning the chairmanship and councilorship positions in the local government elections slated for February 15, 2025, in Katsina State.
The party’s chairman in Katsina, Armaya’u Abdulkadir, said in Katsina on Saturday while unveiling the party’s new logo that NNPP is fully ready to participate in chairmanship and councilorship elections in some local government areas.
On February 14, the Katsina State’s Independent Electoral Commission (KASIEC) fixed February 15, 2025, as the day to conduct local government elections.
“We are not contesting in all the 34 local government areas because the forms are too expensive, and we cannot afford to purchase for candidates in all the LGAs.
“Therefore, I wish to inform you that by the grace of God, we are expecting victory because nobody can deny the fact that we are facing serious challenges under the current government,” Mr Abdulkadir said.
According to him, the present government cannot solve such challenges.
“Therefore, NNPP is optimistic about victory in the elections. The party has conducted its primary elections and produced credible grassroots politicians who are capable of winning the elections.
“If votes will count, the party is confident of winning all positions it is contesting,” he said.
In an interview, Aliyu Shehu-Garo, the national vice chairman of NNPP North-West, said he was in Katsina to witness the replacement of two of the party’s officials.
“I am here also here to unveil the new logo of our great party. The logo was changed because we had some challenges during the previous elections across the country.
“Some of our supporters could not recognise the logo clearly, so that has affected us seriously during the past elections, and we don’t want that to happen again.
“That’s why the national headquarters of the party met with the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and changed the party’s logo,” he revealed.
The vice chairman commended the party’s loyal members for their commitment to promoting its ideals in the state, saying that Katsina was one of the party’s pride states in the northern part of the country.
