Association of Nigerian Electricity Distributors (ANED) has clarified that no financing pre-conditions have been set by General Electric or the Government for investments in the Power distribution sector.
ANED said, the clarification was necessary because of the news stories published in several dailies citing recent remarks made by its Executive Director, Barrister Sunday Oduntan following the recently held Electricity Education Policy workshop in Abuja.
In a statement by the Executive Director, Research and Advocacy, ANED, Barr. Sunday Oduntan said, “ANED would like to clarify the following points:
No financing pre-conditions have been set by GE or the Government for investments in the Power distribution sector.
“GE offers a limited range of solutions in Power Distribution and is not in talks to invest in the Distribution segment “ANED discussions with the Government and GE are focused on leveraging GE’s wealth of experience across Africa and other developing countries to define cohesive end to end solutions to support development of power infrastructure in the country and address key challenges faced by all stakeholders.
“All Power sector stakeholders are working together to bring access to energy to Nigeria’s population,” he said.
