Africa’s richest man, Alhaji Aliko Dangote yesterday said the country would no longer experience the dearth of cement.
Dangote who is the President of Dangote Group of companies stated this during the customers’ forum of Dangote Cement in Kano, saying the problem of building collapse would be a thing of the past also.
He said the production capacity of his cement plants in across the country has been
increased in order to end the perennial scarcity of the commodity.
According to him, from 19.25 million metric tonnes, of his cement plants would be producing 29 million metric tonnes of cement starting from next month. “With this success, Nigerians would no longer experience scarcity of cement especially during the dry season,” he said.
The business mogul while stressing the need for quality cement, he said his company has put in place mechanism to ensure that Nigerians are given best quality.
“We are not only talking about availability, we are ensuring that Nigerians get the best so that the problem of collapse building in the country would be a history,” Dangote added.
While responding to the delay in the lifting of the commodity at his plants, he said plans are in the offing to ensure that distributors clear their commodity in 48 hours. “We are working hard to address this so that our distributors would
not spend more than 48 hours before clearing and getting their goods. We have over 6,000 trucks transporting the commodity.
We bought the trucks not for profit making but to ensure that our distributors get their supply on time,” he said.
He added: “We have established cement plants in 14 other countries in Africa this is why no other company can compete favourably with the quality of our product”.
