NOA commences Covid-19 second wave sensitization campaign in Kaduna

The National Orientation Agency (NOA) kaduna has commenced a sensitisation campaign on the second wave of COVID-19 in the 23 Local Government Area of the state.
Kaduna State Director of the Agency, Mr Zubair Galadima-Soba, said this while speaking to the media in kaduna yesterday
Galadima-Soba explained that the objective of the campaign is to ensure that people are reminded to abide by the COVID-19 guidelines and protocols issued by the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control(NCDC).
He added that the agency will engage the War Against Indiscipline (WAI) Brigade volunteers in mobilising and sensitising people in all the 255 wards of the state.
“We have been using them in our implementation strategy to make sure everybody is covered. Mega phones were used in market places, motor parks and worship centres to enlighten the public.
“Messages such as proper use of nose mask, washing hands with soap and running water, use of hand sanitizers, physical and social distances were passed during the campaign”, he said.
“We went on advocacy visits to critical stakeholders like traditional rulers, faith based organisations, religious leaders, youth and women association as well as the transport authority.
He said that the advocacy visit was to carry the stakeholders along in ensuring that the protocols and guidelines for the prevention of COVID-19 got to the grassroots.
The NOA Director advised kaduna residents that the second wave of Covid-19 pandemic is now on ravaging, saying citizens should observe the safety measures.
Galadima-Soba said the warning became necessary because of the non challant attitudes exhibited during the Christmas celebration.
According to him the health of individuals should be paramount to him before any celebration because only the living celebrate.
He advised kaduna residents to celebrate the New year in a low key to avoid contracting the second wave of COVID-19 pandemic.
“We are appealing to Nigerians who intend travel to their hometowns for the celebration to suspend such movement due to the rising number of COVID-19 cases.
“They should maintain low key celebrations with their immediate family members so as to avoid contracting and spreading the virus.
“This is because the second wave is serious. We must be more active and take responsibility by doing what is right and abide by the preventive protocols and guidelines against the disease “, he said.
