NOCRELA unveils national executive council

The Northern Christian Religious Leaders Assembly – Nigeria (NOCRELA) has announced the formal constitution of its National Executive Council (NEC), describing it as a milestone in its mission to provide credible and Christ-centred leadership in Northern Nigeria and beyond.

The announcement was contained in a statement issued in Abuja on Saturday by the Secretary General, Rev. Dr. Simon A.S Dolly.

The new council will serve as NOCRELA’s highest administrative and coordinating body, tasked with guiding the Assembly’s strategic direction. It will also focus on promoting unity, justice, peace, and ensuring that the Church’s voice remains a force for righteousness in governance and nation-building.

His Grace, Archbishop JohnPraise Daniel was named National Chairman, while His Grace, The Most Rev. Marcus Amfani Ibrahim will serve as Vice Chairman. Rev. Dr. Dolly was confirmed as Secretary General.

Other key appointments include Bishop Agnes Benedicta Iroegbu as National Treasurer, Rev. Bulus Bature Yahaya as National Publicity Secretary, and Archbishop Dr. Peter Ayodele Andrew as National Prayer Coordinator.

The Assembly said the new leadership is strategically positioned to engage government, political, and civil society stakeholders on issues of peace, governance, and national security. It also pledged to strengthen interfaith dialogue and foster national cohesion.

Speaking on the development, Archbishop JohnPraise Daniel described the move as a “new dawn of united Christian leadership in the North.”

“By the grace of God, we shall stand as watchmen for our nation, speaking truth to power, promoting peace, and ensuring that the Church continues to shape society in righteousness and justice,” he said.

The Assembly also stressed its commitment to empowering women and youths, championing inclusiveness, and building platforms for effective leadership.

NOCRELA urged Christian leaders across Northern Nigeria to support the newly constituted council through prayers, cooperation, and active engagement.

The date for the official inauguration and leadership retreat will be announced in due course.
