North-West APC Forum Lauds Matawalle, Yari Over Party’s Landslide Victory in Zamfara

Date:

The North-West APC Forum has hailed Minister of State for Defence, Dr. Bello Mohammed Matawalle, and Senator Abdulaziz Yari Abubakar for masterminding the party’s decisive victory in the Kaura-Namoda South State Constituency bye-election.

In a statement signed by Comrade Mohammed Bello, the Forum praised the former Zamfara governors for their “strategic brilliance, unifying vision, and relentless dedication,” declaring the win a clear signal of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP)’s impending defeat in the 2027 general elections.

He said: “We salute these titans of Zamfara politics for their strategic brilliance, unifying vision, and relentless dedication, which have not only delivered a crushing defeat to Governor Dauda Lawal’s Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) but also cemented the APC’s dominance as the vanguard of progress in Zamfara.”

Recall that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), through Returning Officer Prof. Lawal Sa’adu of Federal University Gusau, announced APC’s Kamilu Sa’idu, a former Special Adviser to Matawalle, as the winner with 8,182 votes across the constituency, overwhelmingly defeating PDP’s Muhammad Lawal Kurya, who garnered 5,544 votes.

The supplementary election, held on August 22 in Sakajiki and Kyambarawa polling units, followed an inconclusive initial vote where the APC’s 1,181 votes in the rerun dwarfed the PDP’s 194.

According to Bello, Matawalle and Yari, leveraging their stature as APC heavyweights, have transformed Zamfara’s political landscape, drawing thousands of PDP supporters and leaders into the APC through their inclusive leadership and proven governance records.

The Forum highlighted their mobilisation efforts, including a massive campaign rally in Kaura-Namoda, which thwarted Governor Dauda Lawal’s alleged deployment of state-backed Zamfara Vigilante operatives to intimidate voters.

The statement boldly warned Lawal that “the PDP faces certain defeat in 2027,” underscoring the electorate’s rejection of his leadership.

Addressing President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the Forum assured that with Matawalle and Yari’s influence, the party will ssecure a sweeping victory in Zamfara and the North-West in 2027.

“To President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, we assure you that with Matawalle and Yari at the helm, the APC is poised to deliver a sweeping victory in Zamfara and the North-West in 2027,” the statement added.

“Their proven track record—Matawalle’s transformative governance and Yari’s legislative prowess guarantees a robust platform for your administration’s agenda.

“We commend INEC for upholding transparency, ensuring the people’s mandate prevailed. The North-West APC Forum calls on all supporters to rally behind Matawalle and Yari, whose leadership will fortify Zamfara as an APC stronghold and propel Nigeria toward a future of unparalleled progress.”
