Following the suspension of Senator Abdul Ningi and his resignation from the Northern Senators Forum, the Arewa Movement for Good Governance (AM2G,) has called for accountability and transparency on the part of Nigerian leaders.
The Convener, of AM2G Usman Bugaje, asserted this during a press conference held in Kaduna, yesterday.
According to him, the recent events in the National Assembly – the suspension of Senator Abdul Ningi, his resignation from the Northern Senators Forum, and the removal of Senator Kawu Sumaila from its PRO position expose a troubling trend.
He added that the events unfold against the backdrop of a Nigerian state that has demonstrably failed to fulfil its constitutional mandate by both the executive and legislative arms, which guarantees the security and welfare of Nigerian citizens.
Mr Bugaje opined that the true victims of democracy are the ordinary Nigerians who are impoverished and marginalized, as they struggle to survive.
The convener stressed that since exposing a crime is treated as committing a crime, it is only necessary that the leaders stand up to their promises and work with sincerity and transparency.
