Prominent figures from Northern Nigeria have expressed satisfaction with President Bola Tinubu’s performance, commending his administration for delivering on promises made during the 2023 presidential campaign.
Their position was made known during a two-day interactive session on government-citizen engagement, held in Kaduna on July 29–30, 2025.
The event, organised by the Sir Ahmadu Bello Memorial Foundation (SABMF), had its theme as : ‘Assessing Electoral Promises: Fostering Government-Citizen Engagement for National Unity.’
In a communiqué issued at the end of the meeting and signed by SABMF Director-General, Engr. Abubakar Gambo Umar, the participants noted: “The summit concluded that Northern Nigeria acknowledges and commends the administration’s high performance in fulfilling its electoral promises in many areas and also appreciates subsisting challenges.”
The communiqué further stressed the need for greater commitment to transparency, fairness, and equity as crucial factors in strengthening national unity and sustaining democracy.
It also called for continued collaboration between government, citizens, and stakeholders to promote peace, justice, and prosperity across the country.
The participants applauded the administration for maintaining open channels of dialogue with citizens, as well as for its achievements in security, infrastructure, and economic reforms.
“The government demonstrated openness to dialogue and continuous citizen engagement. The administration’s delivery of electoral promises in security, infrastructure, and economic reforms was high and commendable. Northern Nigeria contributes significantly to national stability, development, and electoral outcomes,” the communiqué read.
The statement emphasized ongoing major infrastructure projects in the northern part of the country, including highways, the Ajaokuta-Kaduna-Kano (AKK) gas pipeline, oil exploration at Kolmani, and rural irrigation schemes.
President Tinubu was represented at the event by Chairman of the Governors’ Forum, Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq.
Vice President Kashim Shettima was represented by his Special Adviser on Special Duties, Dr. Aliyu Modibbo Umar, while Kaduna State Governor, Senator Uba Sani, served as chief host.
