The Joint Action Committee of Northern Youth Associations, JACONYA, has congratulated Hon. Prince Abdussamad Dasuki, the Santuraki of Sokoto, on his appointment as Deputy Minority Leader of the Federal House of Representatives, describing it as a “resounding vote of confidence” in his legislative record and dedication to public service.

In a statement signed by JACONYA’s Director of Public and Strategic Communication, Muhammad Isa Imam, the coalition said the appointment recognizes Dasuki’s extensive governance record.

“As Northern youths, we celebrate this distinguished son of the Caliphate,” Imam stated. He noted that from Dasuki’s service in the Sokoto State House of Assembly to his impactful tenure in the National Assembly from 2015 to 2019, and later as Commissioner of Finance, the lawmaker has consistently demonstrated qualities of a patriotic and compassionate leader.

Imam also highlighted Dasuki’s royal status, adding that his turban as the second Santuraki of Sokoto by His Eminence, Sultan Muhammadu Sa’ad Abubakar III, affirms his reputation for generosity and community service.

The youth group also pointed to his legislative accomplishments, including sponsoring the North East Development Commission Bill and the Not Too Young to Run Bill, as well as oversight that resulted in the establishment of a world-class Navy Secondary School in Tambuwal.

While celebrating his new role, JACONYA urged the Deputy Minority Leader to use his position to advance the nation. The group called on him to vigorously advocate for transparency and responsible management of public resources, ensuring that ordinary Nigerians remain central to legislative decisions.

They also urged him to defend the rule of law, safeguard the independence of the legislature, and promote inclusive governance that respects the rights of all citizens, regardless of political affiliation.

According to the statement, Dasuki’s experience should be used to push policies that expand quality education, create jobs, and foster economic empowerment for Northern youths. JACONYA also tasked him with providing strong oversight of the executive, particularly in finance, security, and infrastructure, to guarantee government programs deliver real benefits.

“We have no doubt that Hon. Dasuki, who has already received cross-party endorsements in his constituency for his respect for humanity and performance, will rise to this occasion,” Imam said.
