The Co-founder of Newswatch magazine, Mr Ray Ekpu, has described the Vice-Chancellor of the National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN), Prof Abdalla Uba Adamu, as a man who is receptive to new ideas.
A press statement signed by the Director, Media and Publicity of NOUN, Ibrahim Sheme indicated Ekpu, who the VC likes to call Uncle Ray, stated this when he paid a private visit to the latter in his office in Abuja.
Adamu was a special guest at a colloquium held recently in honour of Mr Ekpu’s 70th birthday.
The veteran journalist in a chat with NOUN media team said that he was thrilled that Adamu attended the event in Lagos and that he was impressed to see him connect to such a a programme, given the fact that many professors “find it hard to be receptive to new ideas and new ways of doing things”.
NOUN officials present during the visit included the university librarian, Dr. Adam Gambo Saleh; Director of Olusegun Obasanjo Good Governance and Development Research Centre, Prof. Stanley Ngoa; Director, Centre for Entrepreneurial and General Studies, Dr. Juliet Inegbedion, and Director, ICT, Dr. Madu Galadima.
Mr Ekpu was among the founders of Newswatch, alongside Dan Agbese, Yakubu Mohammed and the late Dele Giwa.
