The National Population Commission (NPC) in collaboration with UKaid funded LAFIYA project, engaged all stakeholders in a workshop on how to achieve demographic dividends in Jigawa state.
The Director NPC Jigawa state, Kassim D Muhammad explained that, the objectives of the two day workshop is to inform participants on the revised National Population Policy, and to understand the entire context of Demographic Dividends (DD) and its multi-sectoral nature, basic demographic concepts and highlight key issues in selected sectors.
He maintained that, other objectives of the engagement is to understand the role of NPC, other MDAs and participants in the implementation of the Demographic Dividends agenda at state and community levels.
The state director who identified some factors to achieve Demographic Dividends said, “we must reduce the fertility, promote an effective social and economic policies, investment in education and human capital development as well as ensuring good governance in our state”.
