NSCDC arrest man, 30, over rape of minor in Yola

The Adamawa State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps,NSCDC has arrested one Mohammed Babangida,30 years old of Damari Ward in Yola South Local Government Area for allegedly raping a nine years old girl.
Parading the suspect before journalists on Friday at the Command’s Head Quarters in Yola,Commandant Nuradeen Abdullahi said the arrest was made possible after receiving an intelligence report through their networks as the culprit was apprehended.
Abdullahi stated that the medical report obtained from the sexual assault referral Centre,SARC popularly known as ‘Hope Centre’ of the Yola Specialist Hospital confirmed that the little innocent girl was defiled by the culprit.
Abdullahi added that based on the intervention and professional advices by the state Director Public Prosecution,DPP and Ministry of justice,the suspect will be charge to court for prosecution.
“Meanwhile, the suspect will be charged to court for prosecution through the intervention and advice by DPP and state Ministry of Justice which we always partner with on capital offences that amount to prosecution.
Responding to questions from journalists at the parade, the suspect,Babangida confessed to the crime pleading for mercy from authorities and parents of the minor.
Babangida stated that he lured his victim with monetary inducement to have his way, apologising that he is a first offender who is regretting and condemning his act personally.
“Please I plead for mercy being a first offender full of regrets over my actions in it’s entirety and my apologies to the victim, her parents, authorities and all that can be affected by this condemnable act of mine which I am promising not to commit again,”.Babangida said.
