NSCDC Deploys 10,000 Personnel to Osun For Election Security 

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has deployed 10,210 personnel to provide security during the August 15 governorship election in Osun State.

According to the Commandant General of the corps, Prof. Ahmed Abubakar Audi, in a statement on Monday, the personnel were sourced from ten state commands and the specialised tactical and operational units of the corps.

Their mandate is to reinforce security across the state by protecting voters, electoral officials, observers, journalists and residents to participate in the electoral process without fear or intimidation.

The specialised teams will complement the regulars through intelligence gathering, crime prevention, detection, protection of critical assets, crowd control and other security responsibilities.

A Deputy Commandant General, Operations, Ayuba Phillip, together with designated Assistant Commandants General and senior officers, will coordinate the election security operation.

The Commandant General has assured that the NSCDC will be professional, impartial and respectful of the rights of all citizens throughout the electoral process.
