NSCDC parades job scam kingpin for alleged N955m fraud

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) recently paraded a job racketeer kingpin for defrauding desperate job seekers to the tune of N955 million.

Parading the suspect yesterday, at the headquarters of the corps in Abuja, the Corps Public Relations Officer (PRO),  Emmanuel Okeh, said the suspect,  Michael Ogun, 44, was arrested at his resident at New Nyanya, Abuja where he perpetrate his dubious activities.

He said the alleged fraudster opened a facebook account in the name of the Commandant General of the corps as a means of swindling innocent applicants by asking them to pay money into some Bank account numbers given for the purpose of the recruitment.

“The scammer, so far, has defrauded applicants seeking for employment into the corps, Custom, Immigration and other services to the tune of N403, 624, 992. While other fraudulent financial transactions in US Dollar amount to $950, 000 and other transaction involving money laundry amount to N552, 371, 901.50.

“Therefore, from different fraudulent accounts, the total sum of N955, 996, 893.50 was said to have passed through his bank accounts”. Emmanuel noted”.

Emmanuel revealed that the fraudster printed fake employment letter of different agencies including the Corps, Nigeria Immigration Service and Customs service, and issued same to his victims by urging them to report for documentation at a particular time.

The Corps, however, warned the public that the Commandant-General of the Corps, Dr. Ade Abolurin or the Corps is not operating any Facebook account for the purpose of recruitment or operating an on-line recruitment, while warning that any who patronize such does so at his or her own risk.

Responding to the allegation, the suspect, who could not express himself, said certain forces were against him.

“It is a big-time set up. The person that is setting me up is an officer of this corps; his name is John Oliseh.
