NSCDC to recruit next of kin of deceased personnel

The Nigeria and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), has expressed its resolve to employ next of kin of deceased personnel as a means of bringing succour to the families.
A statement issued yesterday in Abuja by the Corps Public Relations Officer (PRO), Emmanuel Okeh, said the NSCDC boss, Abdullahi Gana Muhammadu stated this while briefing personnel on the need to dispel rumours making rounds by fraudsters that the Corps is recruiting underground and carrying out replacement exercise.
He explained that, as part of his obligation to staff, he paid a condolence visit to families of some personnel who died while in active service in Rivers, Lagos, Akwa Ibom, Edo, FCT, and other parts of the country but the situation he met on ground was not palatable as most of the deceased personnel were said to be breadwinners of their families.
Gana stressed that, the situation touched him as a person and he felt that no amount of money given to their family members at that moment could last forever or bring back their wards, rather than empowering the family by replacing the deceased with a family member will go a long way in restoring the lost hope.
He therefore directed the various families to submit names of those to be used as replacement for the deceased personnel when the Corps is to recruit.
The Corps helmsman also charged desperate job seekers and the general public to always ascertain the veracity of any news regarding recruitment from the Corps, that fraudsters have adopted the strategy of disseminating false information on social media and through text messages to defraud unsuspecting applicants of their hard earned money.
He cautioned applicants to exercise patience and wait for the appropriate time the Corps will advertise its existing vacancies in major National Newspapers.
