In efforts to give to its host community, not more than N6m solar-powered borehole has been inaugurated in the Maraba Takunshara community in Waru,Abuja by the the Nigerian Society pf Engineers (NSE) FCT chapter.
Speaking during launch of the project yesterday, the Chairman of the chapter, Engr. Ben Osy Okoh, said the project is part of target to ease challenges communities in the FCT are facing.
Okoh stated that the borehole was provided for the community after an assessment was done on the needs of the community which they identified potable water as the critical social amenity they lack.
“Water projects have been sited in the community but the four of them are no longer working. We have assured the community this one will be different as we will constitute a committee to visit here from time to time to look after it.”
while urging the community to protect the project from theft and vandalism, he said the project cost over N6m sourced from its members with technical support.
The National President of NSE, Engr. Tasiu Wudil said the project its part of the mandate given to all the 84 branches of NSE to make their communities feel their impact.
He said such projects would enable its members to have technical knowledge of engineering while solving problems communities face in the country.
On his part, the Makama of Takunshara community, Ahmed Tanko, commend the NSE for the project, adding that it would bring great succour to the community.
He said is a direct labour actually but if you want to do project like through federal and State government,it would be amount to twenty millions but with do this Les than 6, millions.
