The Chairman of Northern States Governors Forum (NSGF) and Niger state governor, Dr Mu’azu Babangida Aliyu has called on Nigerians to remain more focused on building the culture of peace in 2015, which according to them is a major catalyst for meaningful socio-economic development.

According to the governors, 2015 is a crucial year for Nigeria, stressing that irrespective of religious, political or ideological differences people must support genuine efforts aimed at ensuring that the forthcoming general elections is successful and devoid of needless bickering capable of threatening the nation’s corporate existence.

This was contained in the forums Chairman press statement signed by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr Israel Ayegba Ebije, enjoined Nigerians to enter the year 2015 with renewed hopes, stressing that Nigerians cannot afford to miss out in numerous opportunities that the New Year has to offer.

Aliyu called on politicians across different party platforms to play politics according to the rules of the game, added that stakeholders must shun acts capable of plunging the entire country into avoidable crisis, stressing that the unity and developmental aspirations of Nigeria is sacrosanct.

Governor Aliyu therefore wished Nigerians a prosperous and fruitful 2015, urged everybody to be prayerful, law-abiding, adding that the Nigeria of ‘our collective dreams and aspiration’ can only be achieved when people work hard and remain committed to core societal ideals.

“Undoubtedly, Nigeria is on the verge of attaining greatness beginning from this very year. Those who think the nation won’t survive the general elections should be ready to bury their heads in shame. Nigeria will not only survive the election year, but will become more peaceful and generally safe” the governor assured.
